About the Listening Lounge

I have created The Listening Lounge as a resource for music educators and music lovers alike. My goal is to have a new piece prepared each month starting in September 1998. The current piece serves as an example of what I hope to create on a regular basis.

Each month a new piece will be featured. It will have a brief introduction to the composer and hopefully a link to more detailed information. The score will presented on a series of pages with the a choice of sound formats to listen to allowing the user to listen and follow the score. I hope to make extensive use of the Yamaha Twin VQ sound format. Like MPEG layer 3, it is a high quality, compressed sound format but allows greater control over the data. For example, a file can be left in a "read only" mode to protect copyright. Each piece will be followed by an optional lesson on the piece (not currently in place) that could be e-mailed back to a classroom teacher for evaluation (online homework).

This is my first real attempt at a web site so...patience please.
